By Geoffrey E. Goodman

Have you ever heard about self Hypnosis? Self Hypnosis has been proven to improve motivation, overall health, self confidence, self esteem, concentration, sports performance, relationships and much more. Self Hypnosis has also been proven to reduce blood pressure, stress, anxiety, get rid of stage fright, help individuals quit smoking, help with weight loss, and assist with whole list of negative habits and beliefs.
**The bold text is there to help you easily remember the steps of self hypnosis when you are ready to begin**
Create an Affirmation and or a goal for yourself
Create a positive affirmation/goal for yourself. Allow the affirmation/goal to be said in the present tense and make sure it is positive. Example) I am making healthier food choices, I exercise daily, I am no longer a smoker. * The use of repetition and actually believing this affirmation/goal is the most important aspect of the practice.
Now sit or lay down in a comfortable position. Take a deep breath in and allow your body to totally relax. Release your breath slowly and focus on one of your hands, particularly the sensation in your hand. Try to make a fist with that hand and if you are able to and only if you are able to make it as tight as you can, therefore you can feel every sensation such as, your fingernails digging into your palm. Release the tension in your hand and allow your hand to become fully limp, loose, and relaxed. Really imagine your hand feeling as if it were lifeless, and you simply could not move your hand. Allow your hand to be completely numb, limp, loose, and relaxed and again allow yourself to accept that you cannot move your hand. Once this happens take another deep breath in, release that breath slowly, and close your eyes.
Take your attention to your eye lids. you can relax your eye lids so much that they just wont work. allow your eyelids to become so relaxed that you have no desire to open them. (Use your hand as a model for both of your eyelids; loose, limp, relaxed). Once your eyelids are so relaxed and you are absolutely certain you cannot open them, send this feeling of relaxation down through your body, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes like a warm wave of relaxation. Really allow yourself to feel and enjoy the warm sensation flowing down from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. As if you were meant to go 10 times deeper relaxed.
Again, Take your attention to your eye lids and allow those eye lids to become so relaxed that they just wont work. Allow that whole area in your face to become fully relaxed and once you are sure that you’ve done that, test your eye lids and make sure they wont work. (if you test them, and you have followed directions up until this point, your eyebrows may move upward but your eyelids will not open). Once you have tested them, send that feeling of relaxation down throughout your whole body, from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Allow that warm sensation to flow from the top of your head to the tips of your toes and go deeper relaxed. Sit for a few moments and observe the different sensations of your body. Allow the sensations to take you deeper into relaxation. Notice that every sound, thought, or sensation only takes you deeper into relaxation. Allow the feeling of the clothes on your body or the surface you are laying on to send you deeper into relaxation.
At this point it is time to relax your mind, because in hypnosis the mind is the area that needs to be relaxed for positive change. Use your body as a model to relax your mind. Take a deep breath in and slowly release that breath. Imagine yourself on a staircase. Really allow yourself to visualize and see the staircase in front of you. Inch closer to the steps and as you take your first step down, allow each succeeding step to take you deeper into relaxation. Allow your mind to see the number 1 as you take a step down. Take your next step and allow your mind to see the number 2. Continue walking down the steps seeing each number (3,4,5, and so on) until your mind goes blank and the numbers fade to nothing, nothing, nothing. If you want this you can have it very easily.
Once the numbers fade take another deep breath in and repeat in your mind the affirmation/goal you have created for yourself. Repeat this 20 times in your mind and allow yourself to accept the positive affirmation/goal you’ve created for yourself. Really believe what your are saying in that it is very important for permanent change.
Take a deep breath in and enjoy the feelings and sensations of your body and mind. Release your breath and repeat in your mind the following; I am confident, I am competent, I am achieving my goal. Repeat this again; I am confident, I am competent, I am achieving my goal.
State your Affirmation/State the Mantra
Good, Take another deep breath, hold it, and release. Repeat your affirmation/goal 20 more times followed by a deep breath and I am confident, I am competent, I am achieving my goals. Do this over and over until you feel really good. You will most certainly know when it is time to stop and -
At this point you should feel good about the affirmations you’ve embedded into your subconscious mind. You can start to bring your attention back to your fingertips by wiggling them a bit. Move your toes and feet around as well. Stretch your arms over your head and begin to emerge. Allow your eyes to slowly open at your own pace feeling alert, refreshed, and relaxed. You may sit or lay for a bit until you feel comfortable moving around. Do this practice each day and know that the more you do this, the easier it becomes, and the easier it becomes, the quicker you see results, and the quicker you see results, the closer you get to happiness!
